SUMMER HIGHLIGHTS
I had the great pleasure of going on our Summertime Treasures trip with Cindy and Kim Risen and 76 other great people.  It was great, awesome, phenomenal!!!!!!!  (Do you think I enjoyed myself.)  Here are a few of the highlights.  We went by Amtrak and our first stop was Glacier National Park.  What a beautiful Country this USA is!!!!!!!!!!!!   We spent the night at the Historic Glacier Lodge.  What a thrill.  No phones, no televisions, just awe inspiring.  The next morning we took the Historic Red Buses on the Going-to-the-Sun Road.  There were four buses, and everyone was sure they had the best tour guide/driver.  But I do know for a fact that Bill really was the best.  That evening we got back on the train and headed on to Portland, and then on to Bend and Sisters by bus.  There were 1309 quilts hanging around the town of Sisters (on fences, buildings, etc.)  Twelve of them were from Timeless Treasures and the Quilts Across the Stage.  The gals who got to display their quilts were:  Jeannie Bergdahl of North Branch, Joan Butler of Forest Lake, Peggy Haugen of Stacy, Hope Henry of McGregor, Carol Johns of Aitkin, Debbie Johnson of McGregor, Lois Johnson of Aitkin, Abbey Mudrick of North Branch, Mavis Oesterich of McGrath, Diane Pelto of McGregor, Gloria Petersen of Milaca, and Cindy Risen of McGregor.  What an experience to have our quilts displayed in that beautiful setting.  After a wonderful time in Sisters and Bend we headed on to the coast and Lincoln City.  There we had an enjoyable afternoon of shopping, and some of us went to try our hand at glass blowing.  FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!!!  We stayed at the beautiful Surftides Hotel, where some of us had even more fun looking for shells and rocks.  The water was very cold, and we now know that purple legs do go back to normal.  Next we were off to Portland, with a short stop at the Rose Gardens, which were, of course, great.  After that we were back on the train and on to home.  One of the great things about vacations is how great it is to be back home again.
Happy Quilting!

Diane
